About Us

The Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) has been engaged in engineering design and development along with technological R&D activities in various fields of nuclear science and technology in the country. The Engineering Division (ED) is formed under the approved charters of BAEC (e.g., Enam Committee, BAEC Perspective Plan-1993-2010, and BAEC service rules & orders) as a key organ for engineering design, development and conducting appropriate engineering and technological research for meeting up upcoming challenges in this field. Thus ED is entrusted with responsibilities for planning, designing, fabrication, installation, operation, and supervision of scientific, nuclear, and engineering infrastructures, along with carrying out routine repair and maintenance works for the smooth operation of BAEC’s R&D programs under both the revenue and ADP budgets. The division is also responsible for procurement of works, goods, and services through national and international tenders in accordance with PPR-2008. Thus, the ED plays a central role in implementing overall R&D programs for promoting nuclear science and technology and its peaceful applications in the country.

Purpose

The purpose of the Engineering Division is to build necessary physical infrastructures, facilities, technical services and appropriate technological research activities to smoothly carry out BAEC’s R&D programs along with implementation of all ADP projects under BAEC for the peaceful application of nuclear energy in the country. ED is committed to carry out above activities in compliance with international responsibilities (IAEA) and the country’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to uplift the national economy.

Objectives

The ED serves as a key organ among the three main disciplines of BAEC to promote its overall R&D programs and policies through its activities in the field of nuclear science and technology in the country.

Chartered Duties and Responsibilities

The mandated duties of the ED, as per approved charters (e.g., Enam Committee, BAEC organogram & regulations, and the previous Perspective Plan 1993-2010), are as follows:

  •  Planning, designing, construction, installation, operation, and supervision for developing infrastructure and engineering facilities of BAEC under the revenue budget.
  •  Planning, designing, construction, installation, operation, and supervision for developing infrastructure and engineering facilities of BAEC under the ADP budget.
